"Let's make music journalism great again" - Alexandra Ivanoff at Akordaj - Spotlight on Music

American music critic Alexandra Ivanoff brought a new breath of fresh air to the Akordaj – Spotlight on Music conference in Timisoara, where she aimed to train future classical music journalists.

“It’s this excitement and joy that I will be teaching about at my seminar. This must show in the writing. Let’s make music journalism great again. And I can say that as an American. That is my goal,” Ivanoff said.

With more than 20 years experience as a performer and voice teacher, Ivanoff emphasizes the importance of passion and deep knowledge in music criticism.

“There are so many factors that we’ll discuss: what is a good review, what is a bad review, what does it mean for the reader, but what does it mean for the artist? What does it mean for the industry as a whole,” she explained.

Through her participation in Akordaj – Spotlight on Music, Ivanoff wanted to inspire and guide young people in discovering their vocation in music journalism.
